Pastor Dennis’s Testimony
I grew up in church. My parents were active church members, and our family almost never missed a service. But church attendance did not make me a Christian. I was religious, but I did not know Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and Lord.
Several years after our marriage, Linda and I were attending a preaching service, and at the close of the service Linda responded to the message by putting her faith in Jesus Christ and committed her life to Him. At that time I realized that I did not know Jesus, in spite of all my previous church experience.
For the next several months it seemed like every day there would be something to remind me that if Linda died, she would go to Heaven, but if I died, I would be in hell.
Finally I realized that Jesus wanted to save me also. Then, I committed my life to Him, trusting Him as my Savior and Lord. The Lord Jesus forgave my sins, taking away my shame and guilt and filling the emptiness in my soul. He gave me eternal life and made me a new person.
The Most Important Question
The most important question that any person can ask is found in Acts 16:30: “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” The next verse has the answer: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.” This man realized that his life was headed for destruction and that he needed someone to save him from that destruction. The Lord Jesus Christ can do that. Here’s how it works:
ADMIT: That you have sinned against God.
BELIEVE: That Jesus Christ is God’s Son who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life of obedience to God, died on the cross to pay for our sins, rose from the grave victorious over sin and death, and offers forgiveness and eternal life to all who believe on Him.
CONFESS: That Jesus Christ is your Savior and Lord.
